Download the #ShiftThePower Report to learn what shifting power means to women across the globe and to find their recommendations for institutions, funders, and others looking to join this movement.

Funding and decision-making in development, aid, and peacebuilding are often top-heavy and top-down, but there’s a growing movement to shift the power into the hands of local communities. To do that, we have to listen to women — especially those in communities who are already doing the work and can speak best to what they need.

That’s why World Pulse invited women and allies across the world to share insights and recommendations for the development sector as part of our #ShiftThePower campaign. They shared what it means to shift power, the barriers local communities and organizers face, and offered detailed recommendations for institutions and funders to better enable power shifting.

In total, we heard from more than 60 World Pulse members across 22 countries, and heard the voices of more than 260 people in offline communities. This report seeks to center women's voices in and beyond the development sector, offering a unique perspective that for many women shifting power means first tackling issues that disempower them in their daily lives.
